The January 26-29 European Championship opens the 2012 IBJJF competition calendar. The big winner at last year’s tournament was Sérgio Moraes, who overcame Claudio Calasans by single advantage point in the final to take the absolute throne. The Alliance black belt has publicly stated he will be at Casal Vistoso sporting complex to defend his crown.
“Of course, I have to be even better-trained this time, but I really want to win and continue to defend my title. All I know is it will be another war,” he told GRACIEMAG.com.
Known for his dauntless and crafty Jiu-Jitsu, the fighter from the Cohab projects is also a world title holder, and in Portugal he’ll be looking to keep up the pace. But Moraes has a prior engagement of the impactful variety – he’ll do full-contact warfare next Saturday at Jungle Fight.
Now what do you think, dear reader, who’s going to be the first absolute champion to enter the books for 2012? Comment below.
