A fight between Ryan Hall and Darrick Minner is reportedly in the works for UFC 269.
MMA Junkie has shared the news, saying that the fighters have agreed to meet in the Octagon for the December event, but that contracts have not yet been signed. The UFC has not formally announced the fight.
Hall, a fan-favorite among the jiu-jitsu community, came off a two-year layoff back in July to fight Ilia Topuria, losing by knockout in the first round. Prior to that, though, he was on an eight-fight winning streak, getting a pretty even balance of knockouts, submissions, and decisions on his win record.
Minner, who has been fighting for the UFC since February 2020, also suffered a loss in his last fight: a TKO at the hands of Darren Elkins back in July. His previous two fights resulted in victory, however, and he’ll be hoping to get back in the win column with a victory against Hall.
Given Minner’s tendency to submit his opponents — 22 of his 26 wins have come by way of submission — there’s no doubt that grappling fans will be eager for this fight to go to the ground.
The fight adds some extra sparkle to an already highly anticipated event. Dustin Poirier is set to square up against lightweight champion Charles Oliveira in the main event, with a trilogy fight between flyweight champ Brandon Moreno and former champ Deiveson Figueiredo also on the card.
UFC 269 will take place on Saturday, December 11.
