Ronda Rousey Probably Isn’t Going Back To MMA

At one time, the former and original UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey was probably the biggest thing to happen to women’s mixed martial arts since…well…ever.

In fact, it can be widely argued that she was the woman who forced men everywhere to take women’s mixed martial arts seriously. With her in the cage, people were all of a sudden talking about who could possibly beat her and what would happen if she and reigning Women’s Featherweight Champion Cris “Cyborg” ever went toe-to-toe.

If one woman can be credited with breaking up the UFC’s boy’s club, it was Ronda Rousey.

But those days seem to be long behind her.

Rousey is now part of the WWE, and it appears she’s not looking to trade the ring for the cage anytime soon.

“I think it’s just as likely as me going back to another Olympics for judo,” Rousey said on the Ellen show. “No one demanded a written resignation from me for judo and I don’t really think the same thing is necessary for fighting. I’m just doing what I enjoy and WWE is what I enjoy right now.”

I think it’s just as likely as me going back to another Olympics for judo.

Rousey’s last attempt at making a comeback in the UFC came to a grinding halt when she was demolished by reigning champion Amanda Nunes early in the first round of UFC 207 at the end of 2016. She made her official pro wrestling debut in the WWE’s first ever women’s Royal Rumble earlier this year.

Rousey is slated for her first professional wrestling match next month at Wrestlemania 34. She will be joined by another former UFC champion, Brock Lesnar.
