After losing to Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza back in 2012, Derek Brunson was no doubt looking to get some revenge when the two met again at UFC on Fox 27.
Sadly, it wasn’t meant to be.
The round started out slowly. Jacare took the center of the cage. They threw a couple of kicks at each other in the first minute, but didn’t land anything substantial.
Two minutes in, Derek threw a nice combination as the crowd stood firmly behind him.
As the clock wound down to the three minute mark, the action picked up. Brunson came in with another combo, but Jacare tried to counter with a double leg. Brunson came back with a flying knee attempt, but Souza returned with a head kick that wobbled Brunson. Smelling blood, Jacare charged in with a flurry of punches, forcing the referee to stop the fight in the first.
Winner by TKO, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza.
