Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza‘s time in the UFC has come to an end.
Sherdog was the first to report that Souza had been released from the promotion following the completion of his contract.
The departure comes after four consecutive losses for the submission artist, the most recent of which took place last weekend and saw him get submitted by Andre Muniz at UFC 262. The armbar resulted in Souza fracturing his humerus, for which he underwent surgery earlier this week.
Souza joined the UFC in 2013 after a successful career with Strikeforce, where he once reigned as the middleweight champion. Prior to and during his time in the UFC, he was known for his finishing skills, having ended 22 of his 26 professional fights before time ran out. The last fight he won took place in 2018, where he knocked out Chris Weidman at UFC 230.
