Rolles Gracie Building This Little Girl’s Confidence Is Heartwarming

It’s the middle of the week, everyone is arguing on the internet all the time about absolutely everything, and there’s still two full work days until weekend open mat. So here’s a basic positive to remind you there are still good things happening in the world. Like big, strong BJJ guys training tiny BJJ nuggets not to get bullied.

The majority of little girls do not grow up being told they’re strong, capable, or worth defending. The ones who do are still mostly handed that idea as a concept they can’t do anything with, because dance and recreational sports–while empowering athletic practices which teach teamwork and deserve respect–don’t teach a tiny person what to do if they’re grabbed aggressively. Some little girls don’t have fathers, brothers, or anyone to teach them the basics of self defense if they’re being bullied…which, statistics show, they almost certainly will.

So, given all that, it’s pretty sweet to watch the smile on the face of little gal Natalie as she works with Rolles Gracie on coordination, confidence, and discipline.

It’s not fancy. It’s just nice to see.
