Those hoping to see Rodolfo Vieira attempt to continue his undefeated MMA streak will need to wait a bit longer.
The 7-0 fighter and 2015 ADCC champion has been forced to pull out of his October 10 bout against Markus Perez due to a rib injury he suffered in training. Combate was the first to report the news, with MMA Fighting confirming it.
Perez is now hoping to find an opponent before the “Fight Island” date in the UAE. His request to fight Khamzat Chimaev was denied, and it’ll be a scramble to find him an match-up in time for the middleweight bout.
Vieira, a multiple-time IBJJF World Champion, has brought his grappling prowess into the Octagon, with six of his seven wins coming by way of submission (and the exception being a TKO). He last fought in March to a first-round head-arm choke victory against Saparbek Safarov.
