For sixth-degree BJJ black belt Roberto “Gordo” Correa, competition day is more than just a day to look forward to – it’s a day of celebration.
“But this friend put my thought into words,” Gordo told Graciemag. “He said competition day is a day of celebration. Sometimes people get nervous before a competition, but it’s a day of celebration; you go there to celebrate.”
Roberto “Gordo” Correa de Lima is one of the biggest names in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Not only did he develop the half guard when he was purple belt, but he is frequently sought out by other big name fighters for help.
UFC fans will no doubt be familiar with Gordo. He is always seen cornering his student, former UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael dos Anjos.
