Cyborg is an acclaimed practitioner from Carlson Gracie’s stable, whose most impressive accomplishment was winning the ADCC Absolute Championship in 2013. As well as this, Cyborg claimed victory in the Brazilian Nationals, World Nopgi Championships, Panamericans and more. Normally, he competes in the Heavyweight/Super Heavyweight division.
In his biography, Cyborg refers to a vehicle accident he suffered in 2000, where he broke his left arm and his doctor said that it was irreparable. Even today, his arm still contains pieces of broken glass. Only four months later, he came second in the Brazilian Nationals.
“People always say Technique over strengh. I do believe technique will overcome strength always, but when you have a good technique supported By a conditioned body it becomes a whole new animal. Strength is your gas pedal, technique is your steering wheel. I believe it’s very important a good technique supported by a strong body. It’s like having a potent car. It’s better to have power and not need it, than needing it and not having it. Here an Example of technique supported by power! Tornado sweep At ADCC agaist The Monster Orlando Sanches!”
Having undergone numerous obstacles, Cyborg wanted to make it clear that that strength is important. He is quoted as saying that, while technique helps to direct your strength effectively, a conditioned body allows you to compete at a whole new level.
