Those who were looking forward to seeing Robert Whittaker in action once again will have to wait a while longer.
The 20-5 middleweight fighter has had to pull out of his upcoming bout with Jared Cannonier at UFC 248, which is scheduled for March 7, according to MMA Fighting. The reason for his withdrawal hasn’t been made public, and a replacement to fight Cannonier has not yet been found.
Whittaker is coming off a KO loss to Israel Adesanya in October, but before that, he was riding high on a nine-fight winning streak. Cannonier, who last fought in September, is currently on a three-fight winning streak. There is hope that a replacement will be found in time for UFC 248 so that he can still be on the card.
UFC 248 will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada, on March 7 this year.
