Two highly anticipated fights at Rizin 14 ended quickly and unsurprisingly.
BJJ superstar Gabi Garcia maintained her undefeated record with a mostly one-sided beatdown of Barbara Nepomuceno. The fight, which lasted less than one round, began with Garcia landing repeated heavy strikes on her much lighter opponent. Garcia then took Nepomuceno to the ground, and although Nepomuceno was briefly able to defend against Garcia’s submission attempts, Garcia ultimately finished the match with an Americana in the first round.
The main event of the evening, an “exhibition” match between Floyd Mayweather and Tenshin Nasukawa, was also quick and mostly one-sided. With kicks not being permitted, Nasukawa, a renowned kickboxer, was forced to rely on punches against the boxing legend. Although Nasukawa was quick with his strikes, they were largely ineffective against Mayweather, who knocked down the 20-year-old fighter multiple times. Nasukawa’s corner threw in the towel for him before the end of the first round, giving Mayweather a quick win by TKO.
