Rafael dos Anjos’s record in the UFC is drawn at two wins and two losses. The tie-breaker will come this Saturday, when the Jiu-Jitsu black belt faces Terry Etim at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi. For his next challenge, the fighter changed the way he does his prep work, moving from his traditional base of Brazil to Singapore, to be with coach Rafael Gordinho.
“Singapore is closer to Abu Dhabi than Brazil is, so it was part of my strategy to get rid of those difficulties that influence fights. The level of preparation over there is high. I have Zorobabel Moreira Jr. and Rafael Gordinho, two Jiu-Jitsu black belts, who train with me. They reproduce the height and reach advantage Etim has, as well there being muay thai coaches. It’s perfect,” says the fighter.
On his opportunity to move his UFC balance into the black, Rafael promises he’s ready to perform.
“I don’t intend to give Etim any breathing room and I’ll pressure him the whole time. I’m going to get a taste of the main card for the first time. Of course I’m going to like it and I want to remain there. So my weapons are honed for this fight,” he warns.
