So just how good are your favorite UFC fighters on the mats? Well, we’re about to find out. News from the UFC reveals that the Quintet grappling promotion will be hosting an event called Quintet Ultra, and its unique approach will bring MMA talent to the mats.
As with other Quintet events, each competitor will grapple under a team. This time, though, the teams will be comprised of grapplers who are connected to some of the top MMA promotions in the world — the UFC, Strikeforce, Pride, and WEC. Each team will have five competitors.
The event will also feature a super fight between ADCC 99kg and absolute champion Gordon Ryan and UFC fighter Aleksei Oleinik.
The entire card hasn’t been announced yet, but so far, a number of competitors have already been confirmed, including Anthony Johnson, Jake Shields, Sean O’Malley, Gilbert Melendez, Takanori Gomi, Chad Mendes, Kazushi Sakuraba, and Glover Teixeira. The matches will be single-elimination.
Quintet Ultra will stream live on UFC Fight Pass on Thursday, December 12.
