Purple belt Danielle Kelly loves to take on bigger opponents, and she does not let them push her around.
Case in point:
She doesn’t seem to be stopping her hunt for the biggest and baddest opponents, either. In her latest video, she is rolling with a man who not only has a clear size advantage over her, but holds a first degree black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
And did we mention he’s a marine?
Still, Danielle was in no mood to give this one-man killing machine an easy roll. Just check out the way she holds her own against someone who could eat most people alive — perhaps literally — if you let him.
So, what motivates Danielle to take on these types of challenges?
Like many of history’s greatest warriors, it was tragedy.
“I lost both of my parents,” Kelly told the Jiu-Jitsu Times. “My motivation is to make them proud and anyone else in my shoes to keep pushing.”
It isn’t only about her, though. Danielle also wants to help kids in her position. Furthermore, after she moves on to MMA, she wants to help her entire community by becoming a police officer.
My goal is to win Worlds at brown and black and eventually fight MMA one day and be a police officer. I want to help kids in the future who were ever once in my shoes. That is my biggest motivation.
We here at the Jiu-Jitsu Times envy the children who will be able to have her as a role model, and pity the poor criminals who will cause trouble while she is on duty.
