This weekend sees the latest installment of the bold, loud-and-proud grappling promotion Fight 2 Win, this time in the city of Seattle, Washington. F2W aims for high production values, picking up production methods from boxing and MMA shows. These include long fighter walk outs on a 32-foot catwalk, an elevated mat and screens around the venue for a better audience experience.
This edition sees a fight card that provides plenty of substance to go with the style.
In the main event, two truly world-class jiu jitsu athletes will compete for the female middleweight black belt title. Nathiely De Jesus (RPBJJ), fresh from double gold at Worlds will take on Jessica Flowers, who medalled at Worlds in her division.
The co-main sees multiple world champs Hugo Marques (Soul Fighters) and Michael Liera Jr (Atos) squaring off at 175lbs.
Both may feel they have a point to prove after Worlds. Marques departed in round 2 and Liera Jr was out at the quarter finals.
Next, and likely to get the crowd rocking, is the main man for 10th Planet in Oregon, Nate Orchard. Orchard will face Dustin Akbari (TAM), a fight originally scheduled for Nate’s home state of Oregon the week before.
With a huge fight card featuring experienced black belt competitors and plenty of local up-and-comers, as well as 3 high-level Judo matches, F2W 115 should be another big success for the US BJJ scene.
