The long awaited Polaris Squads 3: Team UK & Ireland Vs Team USA has been postponed from 17 July to 7 August 2021. The push-back is in accordance with the UK government announcement that occurred on 14 June, meaning the lift of the lockdown restrictions will be delayed. The event however is a spectator event, so it will be interesting to see if the crowd adds anything to the performance of the elite grapplers on show.
Bought Tickets?
For anyone that has bought tickets and can’t make the new date, fear not, a full refund can be issued but Polaris requests that you email them within 14 days to be able to receive this. The event will have the same teams, be held at the same location – Central Hall, Southampton, England, and will take place on Saturday 7 August 2021 at 16:00 – 22:30 BST. As soon as restrictions are lifted they will also be releasing the remaining tickets for the event.
About the Event
The Polaris Squads format is two teams of eight, five minute rounds, winner stays on – submission only. If there’s no submission – both players are out. Read the full rule set here. Four of Hill’s Team UK/Ireland teammates have competed alongside him at the first Polaris Squads event, so team UK & Ireland have a slight advantage on the fact a few fighters have played this format before whereas none of Team USA have experienced the Polaris Squads format.
The phenomenal JT Torres is Team USA’s captain and the incredible Darragh O’Conaill will be the captain of Team UK & Ireland. The rest of Team USA are: Edwin Najmi, Richie ‘Boogeyman’ Martinez, Nick Ronan, PJ Barch, William Tackett, Jon Blank, and Kade Ruotolo. Representing the remainder of Team UK and Ireland are: Ross Nicholls, Daniel Strauss, Ash Williams, Bradley Hill , Tom Halpin, Kieran Davern, and Ben Dyson.
