As the saying goes, “Everything’s bigger in Texas.” In the case of jiu-jitsu, that certainly applies to Fight 2 Win 103.
This card will feature a can’t-miss black belt heavyweight gi title match between Gutemberg Pereira and Alexandro Ceconi as the evening’s main event. Pereira was an unstoppable force during his pre-black-belt career, winning multiple championship titles in both gi and no-gi at Worlds and Pans. In 2017, he won the UAEJJF Abu Dhabi World Pro as a brown belt. He’s now settling into his competitive black belt career after a strong start, winning the Chicago Summer Open in 2017 and earning silver at Pans last year.
Ceconi established himself as a formidable black belt competitor years ago, winning the UAEJJF World Pro in 2010 and Brazilian Nationals that same year (and again in 2012). More recently, he earned second place at Pans in 2016.
The female black belt featherweight gi title will also be up for grabs in the co-main event, with the legendary Hannette Staack going up against F2W veteran Amanda “Tubby” Alequin. Staack is one of the most renowned BJJ athletes of our time, with two ADCC championship titles to her name (plus one in the absolute category), five gi world championship titles, and one no-gi world championship title. Alequin accomplished a lot during her colored belt years, and as a black belt, she won Worlds in 2016.
This event also marks the return of F2W CEO Seth Daniels to judo competition. Daniels hasn’t competed in judo for twelve years, and he’ll be coming back to it in a match against fellow BJJ and judo black belt Jaime Lazcano.
