The two latest athletes to be announced for 3rd Coast Grappling‘s eight-man Grand Prix tournament at 3CG 6 are Pedro Marinho and Aaron “Tex” Johnson.
Marinho and Johnson join a bracket that also includes names like Kaynan Duarte, Nicky Rodriguez, Mason Fowler, William Tackett, and Manuel Ribamar. The grand prize for the tournament is $15,000, and the runner-up will take home a cool $5,000.
Marinho is one of the sport’s top brown belts, making his mark both in elite tournaments (including ADCC and IBJJF events) and superfights alike. A very familiar face in the 3CG circuit, Marinho showed his grappling prowess in the 3CG Kumite series last summer, and it makes perfect sense for him to get another shot at a big cash prize in the promotion’s sixth major event.
Johnson is also an ADCC veteran and has multiple No-Gi Pans titles to his name. He is also known for punching fellow 3CG 6 competitor William Tackett (who was a minor at the time) in the middle of their match at the BJJ Fanatics Grand Prix back in November of 2019. The two have since had a rematch at Subversiv, which Tackett won, and now, the bracket at the upcoming 3CG grand prix opens up the opportunity for another match between the two.
3CG VI will take place on Saturday, April 3 in Houston, Texas and can be purchased via PPV on FITE TV.
