Paddy the Baddy came out with another victory in the octagon this Saturday, but the real story has come from his words after the fight.
In his post-fight interview with UFC commentator Michael Bisping, Paddy took a moment to grab the mic and share some emotional information from his personal life: that his friend had committed suicide just before the fight.
“I woke up on Friday morning at 4 AM to a message that one of my friends back home had killed themselves. This is 5 hours before my weigh-in. So Ricky lad, that’s for you… There’s a stigma in this world that men can’t talk… Listen, if you’re a man, and you’ve got weight on your shoulders, and if you think the only way you can solve it is by killing yourself, please speak to someone. Speak to anyone.“
Paddy then left the octagon in tears, mourning the loss of his friend.

His professional MMA record improves to 19-3 after his Rear-Naked Choke victory. With his 3rd fight in the UFC, he’s also earned his 3rd performance bonus. Paddy promised to return to the octagon by the end of 2022.
