Eddie Cummings fans can rejoice — in just a few days, the legendary leglocker is competing for the first time in almost exactly a year.
Cummings will roll on the Fight 2 Win stage for the third time on Friday, April 12 at the main event of F2W 108 in Philadelphia. Tac Team’s William Wolk will be stepping up to challenge Cummings for his possession of the black belt featherweight no-gi title.
Cummings vs. Wolk will be the grand finale of a star-studded card at every belt level. Among the other exciting matches for the night will be a strawweight black belt gi title match between Mayssa Bastos (who won EBI 18 in December and Pans earlier this year) and Pati Fontes, who is a multiple-time No-Gi World Champion. The Masters will also have their time to shine, with Rafael “Formiga” Barbosa aiming to defend the master welterweight gi title for the third time; this match, he’ll be doing so against Daniel Tavares.
Those who follow the ADCC circuit will be excited to see West Coast Trials qualifier Amada Leve in a rematch against Maggie Grindatti, who was the runner-up at the Trials. Their match will be for the brown belt welterweight no-gi title, which Grindatti currently possesses.
Blue belt standout and ADCC West Coast Trials qualifier Nick Rodriguez will also be returning to the F2W stage for the second time in two weeks. Having defeated black belt Ryan King by decision at F2W 107, Rodriguez will be competing in a super heavyweight purple belt no-gi title match against Colorado BJJ Stapleton’s Walker Madden.
Gutemberg Pereira and “Tex” Johnson had originally been slated to compete in the co-main event for the evening, but following Johnson’s announcement that he would be taking some time away from training and competing to go to rehab, the match has been removed from the card.
