The 2013 Jiu-Jitsu season is just getting in gear, and the stars of gi-clad combat are warming up for an exciting marathon of fighting. For example, those hoping to compete in Abu Dhabi will be sure to be at the most organized WPJJC tryouts in Brazil.
The next round of qualifiers for all-expenses-paid travel to the UAE’s WPJJC will be in Gramado, a town in the Brazilian State of Rio Grande do Sul, from March 1 to 3, when the black belt Fernando Paradeda will run the show in Perinão Gymnasium.
Sign-ups are already underway and will go until February. Click here to get in on the action.
So far at least two gentle-art monsters are confirmed for the event. Tarsis Humphreys of Alliance will return to action since winning the 2012 Brazilian Nationals. Another big name in the mix is superstar lightweight Leandro Lo of team Cicero Costha, who will be looking only to keep up his form, as he already qualified at the tryouts in the city of Natal.
The winners of the competition will travel to Abu Dhabi, the exotic capital of the UAE, with all expenses paid. The winners of the light and heavyweight absolutes in the brown/black belt category will be rewarded with BRL 1,000.
The promoters expect 1,300 athletes to participate at the 2013 event.
