Olympic Gold Medalist Judoka Who Sexually Assaulted Student Spotted At Jiu-Jitsu Tournament

An Olympic gold medalist judoka who was found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman was spotted at a jiu-jitsu tournament.

Masato Uchishiba was seen at the ASJJF Dumau Japan Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Samukawa, Japan. According to Flograppling, the 39-year-old Uchishiba competed in the masters division and won double gold in the middleweight and openweight divisions. He had five matches, and won all by submission (four arm bars and a choke from the mount).

Uchishiba was working as the coach of a women’s judo team at Kyushu University of Nursing and Social Welfare back in 2011. There, he assaulted a woman. He was sentenced to prison for five years after an unsuccessful appeal.

He was also banned from competing in judo tournaments by the All Japan Judo Federation.
