FloGrappling has announced the first female matchup for their upcoming Who’s Number One event on March 26, and we’ll be seeing Rafaela Guedes take on Maggie Grindatti in what’s guaranteed to be an action-packed superfight.
Their match joins a lineup that features Gordon Ryan vs. Vagner Rocha as the main event, with Nicky Rodriguez and Yuri Simoes also having a match on the card. A superfight between Mikey Musumeci and Marcelo Cohen was the most recent announcement from the promotion.
Guedes is one of the sport’s fastest rising stars, having taken home some big wins already after earning her black belt in September 2020. The Atos athlete took home gold Pans last year and went on to win gold in the absolute division of No-Gi Pans, the latter achievement being a good indicator of the level of grappling we can expect in her superfight against Grindatti. She’s also had significant success in previous superfights, taking the no-gi welterweight title away from Elisabeth Clay at F2W 158 and then defeating Ana Carolina Vieira to claim the 155lb belt at F2W 162.
Grindatti earned her black belt at the end of 2019 after a decorated brown belt career that saw her take home gold at Worlds, No-Gi Worlds, and No-Gi Pans. An ADCC Trials silver medalist, Grindatti made an early impression in her black belt career when she brought home silver at Euros last year. This will be her second WNO appearance; her first resulted in her getting submitted with a gogoplata from Elisabeth Clay in an impressive performance from both athletes.
There are still more WNO announcements to come, so keep an eye out here for more big superfight announcements on this stacked card.
Who’s Number One: Gordon Ryan vs. Vagner Rocha will take place on Friday, March 26 and can be streamed live on FloGrappling.
