Niko Price Suspended 6 Months For Marijuana, Fight With Donald Cerrone Changed To “No Contest”

Another UFC fighter has been fined and seen their record affected by a positive drug test for marijuana.

According to a report from MMA Fighting, Niko Price has been suspended for six months and was slapped with a $8,500 fine after a drug test from September showed a positive result for marijuana. Though the substance is legal in the state of Nevada, the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) still keeps it on the banned substances list whenever it shows up above a certain threshold on an athlete’s drug test along with the legal cannabinoid delta 8 THC which has recently been added to the list.

In addition to the sanction and fine, Price’s bout against Donald Cerrone at UFC Fight Night 178 has been changed to a “no contest” ruling; the fight had originally ended in a draw.

Price thanked his fans for the support he received following the news:

Price’s news follows a similar ruling for Trevin Jones, who was stripped of an August UFC win and fined almost $2,000 after testing positive for marijuana in October.
