The next big superfight for the upcoming Who’s Number One event has been announced, and to no one’s surprise, it’s going to be a star-studded co-main event.
FloGrappling has announced that Nicky Ryan and Roberto Jimenez will be the penultimate match of the night, taking place right before Craig Jones and Ronaldo Junior take to the mats for the main event. The no-gi catchweight match will take place at 175 lbs and have a time limit of fifteen minutes.
Both Jimenez and Ryan are multiple-time WNO veterans. Jimenez made a big splash when he won his black belt debut at the very first WNO event against Keenan Cornelius. Though he lost to Craig Jones at WNO 4, he put himself back in the win column with a victory over Dante Leon at the promotion’s most recent installment.
Ryan, who just recently earned his own black belt, will be making his third WNO appearance this time around. He lost his promotional debut against Tye Ruotolo, but then came back at WNO 4 to submit Tony Ramos with a heel hook.
Grappling fans will no doubt be excited for this match. Jimenez and Ryan are considered two of the best young prodigies in the sport, and despite their weight difference, this will be an otherwise perfect matchup to display just what kind of talent is in store for the future of jiu-jitsu.
WNO will take place on Friday, February 26 and can be streamed live on FloGrappling.
