2019 ADCC silver medalist Nicky Rodriguez will be joining his “Danaher Death Squad” teammates in Puerto Rico in January.
In a video filmed with Tom DeBlass, Rodriguez confirmed he will be moving to the U.S. territory around January 15 to continue his jiu-jitsu career with John Danaher, Gordon and Nicky Ryan, and other DDS members. The team has been in the process of relocating to the island from the NYC area largely due to looser COVID-19 restrictions.
In the video, DeBlass also asserted his confidence that Rodriguez could come home from the next ADCC as a double gold medalist at the prestigious tournament. Being as he won third at the ADCC Trials with just six months of jiu-jitsu training and earned second place at the ADCC World Championships when he was “just” a blue belt, it’s not a stretch to believe that Rodriguez might win it all with the time and quality of training he’ll have received between then and the next ADCC Worlds.
