Third Coast Grappling have Announced First Entrant for 3CG 6
3rd Coast Grappling have recently announced their sixth major event – 3CG 6 – which is set to be held on April 3. 3CG 6 will be an eight-man grand prix tournament and 3rd Coast Grappling have confirmed BJJ whizz Nicky Rodriguez as the first fighter to star on their next promotion. With 3CG 6 moving from subscription service FloGrappling, to PPV service FITE TV – for the first time – they must have some more amazing fighters to be released in the line-up following Nicky Rodriguez. With $20,000 cash on the line, the promotion will be inviting the top competitors. The other seven competitors will be revealed by March 1st.
Prior to this announcement, Third Coast Grappling haven’t released any news of the athletes who are competing for the prize money – building up momentum before the big event. The eight-man tournament will see $15,000 go to first-place finisher and $5.000 for the runner-up. If 2019 ADCC runner-up Nicky Rodriguez and TCG start as they mean to go on – we should be in for a real treat.
Nicky Rodriguez Setting the Bar
Nicky Rodriguez recently appeared at 3CG: Kumite IV but unfortunately lost via referee decision to Roberto Jimenez – however he’s still a huge force to be reckoned with. Rodriguez has been making waves in the BJJ scene since placing third at the ADCC trials as a white belt with only a few months of BJJ experience. As a blue belt Rodriguez fought elite black belts Mahamed Aly, Orlando Sanchez and Cyborg Abreu to make it to the finals at ADCC in 2019 – losing in the finals to black belt BJJ beast Kaynan Duarte – but receiving his purple belt on the podium. ‘The Black Belt Slayer’ will for sure make for an interesting watch.
There are still seven more competitors to be announced for this 3CG 6 bracket and a couple of big superfights to be revealed as well, so keep your eye peeled for the full line-up.
3CG 6 will take place on Saturday, April 3 in Houston, Texas. To watch – it can be purchased via PPV on FITE TV, click here.
