It has just been revealed that Danaher Death Squad standout Nick Rodriguez will be making his return to the UK after multiple appearances on Polaris. He will be filling the sixth spot in the Polaris Absolute Grand Prix on April 4th in Newport, South wales. This leaves only one invitational space remaining as a miniature tournament is taking place to assign the final spot. In any other tournament, Rodriguez might be the favorite but here he will be met by Patrick Gaudio, Freddie Vosgrone, Kaynan Duarte, Adam Wardzinski and Mike Perez.
Nick Rodriguez has made several appearances on Polaris so far, building a 3-0 record for the promotion after fighting on all of the last three events. He started with a fight of the night performance at Polaris 10 against the UK’s own, Ashley Amos. He followed this with another strong showing only a few months later at Polaris 11 against another of the UK’s best, ADCC competitor Ben Dyson. His last appearance was in a grueling main event battle with former UFC Middleweight Champion, Luke Rockhold at Polaris 12.
It will be interesting to see how Rodriguez fares if the brackets give us a rematch of the ADCC 2019 final with Kaynan Duarte. While he came up short and went home with the silver medal last year, the loss was a razor-thin one and who knows how much Rodriguez has improved in the months since that event.
