Nick Diaz getting in trouble with the authorities (inside or outside the UFC) is not news, but typically the former UFC Welterweight title contender is in trouble due to popping on a drug test.
This time, Diaz may be in trouble for something much worse: battery by strangulation.
According to MMA Junkie, a person speaking “on condition of anonymity” said Diaz has been charged with felony domestic battery by strangulation and misdemeanor domestic battery. Officer Larry Hadfield of the Las Vegas Police Department said the victim was female. A person who MMA Junkie described as “a person with knowledge of the case” said the woman was transported to a local hospital. Her relationship to Diaz was not mentioned in the article.
A person with the Twitter handle FrontRowBrian posted what appears to be Diaz’s in-custody status:

Nick Diaz is still in custody and cannot post bail until his hearing on Saturday. His bail was set for $18,000.
While Diaz has been charged, it is important to remember he has not been found guilty yet and should be presumed innocent for now.
