BJJ Stars is continuing to live up to its name, having booked yet another exciting match for their upcoming event.
With other big-name matchups already on the card (including a rematch between Ffion Davies and Bianca Basilio), the promotion has upped the ante by including a match between Nicholas Meregali and Kaynan Duarte.
BJJ Stars confirmed the news on social media, sharing a photo of Meregali posing with his contract:
Meregali and Duarte are two of the top athletes in today’s jiu-jitsu scene. Meregali won Worlds last year for the second time in his black belt career, and Duarte’s been on a tear, winning the +99kg division at ADCC and losing only to Lachlan Giles over the span of his last 15 matches. This won’t be the first time these two have squared off, though. Duarte is currently 2-1 against Meregali, scoring wins against him at the Spyder Invitational and World Series of Grappling 2, while Meregali choked Duarte in the semifinals of Brasileiros last year. Another rematch at a big promotion like BJJ Stars could give Meregali the chance to even out those numbers, while Duarte will be looking to further his reputation as one of the best and most well-rounded jiu-jitsu athletes of today.
BJJ Stars will stream live from Sao Paulo on April 25 of this year.
