Nicholas Meregali beats Xande Ribeiro, wins spot at Abu Dhabi World Pro

After two days of competition, the Brazil National Pro defined the 50 athletes that will represent the Brazilian team at the Abu Dhabi World Pro in April. The finals took place Sunday the 12th at the Amadeu Teixeira Arena in Manaus, Brazil, and young Nicholas Meregali won big. Debuting at black belt, the 23-year-old bested the experienced Alexandre Ribeiro by one advantage, taking the 94kg title.

Heavyweight José Júnior also had a good weekend. He gave no chances at 110kg and won the gold as he defeated Max Gimenis via armbar.

Luiza Monteiro won gold in the women’s 70kg division. The NS Brotherhood athlete beat Miste Silva 20-0. They each won a spot on the Brazilian team going to the UAE.
