Jon Jones has had yet another brush with the law in another DWI incident that this time included being charged with negligent use of a firearm on the 26th March which was previously reported on when bodycam footage was released of the incident. More footage has now been released and this is thanks again to MMA Fighting, who managed to obtain both sets of footage relating to the incident and have since uploaded both to their YouTube Channel.
The original story was reported on by KOAT action news and according to them, police responded to sounds of gunfire reported on 3rd Street and Central Avenue just after 1 a.m. Jones was then found in his car with the engine running, although he claimed to have no knowledge of the gunshots. The latest footage released above seems to show the firearm that he was in possession of at the time of his arrest, the same firearm that he was charged with negligent use of.
Since his arrest, Jon Jones has pled guilty to the DWI charge and was sentenced to four days house arrest and a year to be spent on probation. This is the latest in a long line of trouble with the law throughout Jones’ illustrious career as the greatest UFC Light-Heavyweight Champion of all time. In the last year alone, he has been arrested for Battery in an incident at a Strip Club and although no criminal charges would relate to this event, he was also publicly accused of not paying one trainer, Frank Lester, to the tune of around $13,000 later in the year.
With the recent Coronavirus pandemic forcing the cancellation of multiple UFC events, it’s unlikely that we’ll get to see Jon Jones back in the cage any time soon. When he does manage to make his way back to defend his title, it will be interesting to see if he can shake off his latest legal troubles to put on a great display, like he has done so many times before.
