After a tumultuous 2020 with COVID restrictions that left tournaments unable to operate and competitors unable to travel, ADCC has now rescheduled their Trials for later this year.
A post shared by the company revealed the following dates for the 2021 ADCC Trials:
Europe, Middle East, Africa – September 18, 2021 in Poland
North America (East Coast) – November 6, 2021 in New Jersey
Asia and Oceania – December 11, 2021 in Singapore
The newly scheduled ADCC Trials will take place about a year after they were originally supposed to take place. The first announcement for the next round of Trials events was made near the end of 2019, months before we knew that COVID-19 would change the world as we knew it. After pandemic-related postponements that originally pushed the European, African, and Middle Eastern Trials back to December, ADCC announced in September 2020 that they would be moving forward with hosting the East Coast Trials on November 7 of the same year. Just a few weeks later, though, they shared that they had to postpone the event again due to international travel restrictions that would prevent important officials from coming to the United States.
The new dates reflect the unpredictable nature of the current state of the world, providing an optimistic timeline for restrictions to lift and to safely conduct such a tournament.
The Jiu-Jitsu Times will provide updates on the next ADCC event as they become available.
