Dream 16 went down this Saturday, in Nagoya, Japan, and besides deciding the promotion’s light heavyweight champion, other big names from the MMA world saw action.
Gegard Mousasi wasted no time in putting away Tatsuya Mizuno and ended the bout with a first-round rear-naked choke. The fighter escaped an armbar, but managed to get the takedown, mount and move to back mount. Mousasi thus captured the promotion’s vacant light heavyweight title.
While long-time Japanese idol Kazushi Sakuraba succumbed to an arm-triangle from Jason Miller, Shinya Aoki, one of the biggest stars from the country at present, had his work cut out for him against Marcus Aurélio, but took the unanimous decision.
