Brazilian jiu-jitsu fans are in for a treat in January, because brown belt and Atos Assistant Coach Michael Perez will be taking on Danaher Death Squad prodigy and BJJ black belt Gordon Ryan.
In an Instagram video posted earlier today, Perez, who was sitting next to his future opponent, told viewers that he and Ryan would be grappling in an ADCC final rule set match in January at Studio 540, a martial arts academy in Solana Beach, California.
Perez did not reveal the exact date of their match, but he did tell fans not to miss it because he was going to “dethrone the king.”

Dethroning the EBI Middleweight Champion will be no small feat, but keep in mind, Perez has done it before. In fact, it was only last year that he bested Ryan at the ADCC North American Trials.
Can he do it again? Fans will have to wait until 2017 to find out.
