If any of you thought reigning UFC Middleweight Champion “The Count” Michael Bisping would let up on his trolling of former UFC Welterweight Champion and future opponent Georges St-Pierre, you were sadly mistaken.
GSP recently posted a picture of himself and his training partners — who included famed BJJ coach John Danaher and his student Garry Tonon — and wrote:
Im lucky to have an all star team to train with today. Thanks to @FrancisCarmont, @yukinoriakazawa, @mark_cerrone, @carl_massaro, @jakeshields, @danaherjohn and @garrytonon!
Needless to say, The Count was less than impressed, describing the “all star team” as “nerds.”
Bisping isn’t exactly wrong, of course. Coach Danaher has a masters degree in philosophy from Columbia University. If nerdiness is based on intelligence, then Danaher would certainly be one of BJJ’s nerds.
Georges St-Pierre and Michael Bisping will be fighting in the main event of UFC 217, which will be going down from Madison Square Garden on November 4. This event will mark GSP’s return to the octagon after a 4-year hiatus.
