A black-belt under Marcelo Garcia, Dillon Danis is the latest BJJ fighter to move to mixed martial arts. The 23-year-old signed this week a contract with Bellator. Yahoo! Sports broke the story.
Danis won some big titles as a brown-belt, including no-gi and gi Pan and world titles. He was connected to MMA through his friendship and ground coaching of lightweight UFC champ Conor McGregor.
Danis will fight among welterweights, at least initially. His debut remains TBD, but it is expected to happen before the end of the year.
