Mayweather Offers To Help Ronda Rousey With Her Boxing

In the past, Floyd Mayweather and Ronda Rousey have not been the best of friends — what with accusations of domestic violence and disrespect and the like. However, rather than using Rousey’s recent defeat to Holly Holm as an opportunity to criticize her, Mayweather has expressed his sympathy for the fallen star. In a recent interview, Mayweather complimented Rousey’s ground fighting skills, and praised the fact that she managed to gain a large fan base within a short time period. He said that losses are an inevitable part of combat sports, and that she shouldn’t be discouraged. He advised Rousey to take some time off to regroup, and even offered to coach her to improve her boxing technique. Reportedly, Rousey’s coach is a fan of Mayweather’s boxing style, so this could conceivably happen, despite the previous bad blood between the two stars.

Mayweather interview with Fighthype

I want Ronda Rousey to hold her head up high and don’t let this discourage you. If you need help as far as with boxing, I’m here to help you. It’s all about timing and inches. Her ground game is unbelievable. She’ll be okay. You know, but I’m waiting for the comeback of Jon Jones and the other guy that Jon Jones faced before [Daniel Cormier]. I would love to sponsor those guys. I look forward to working with a lot of MMA fighters as far as teaching them boxing techniques. It’s the little small things in contact sports that can take you to that next level.
