Looks like the Blessed Express just got an upgrade!
Former UFC featherweight champion and proud father Max Holloway was given his BJJ Brown Belt by Professor Rylan Lizares on Friday, February 19. The Blessed One announced the promotion via Instagram earlier today:
“A wise man once said. “All the time you put on the mat is one thing no one will ever be able to take away from you.” Got an upgrade in my belt yesterday but the work ain’t done yet. Let’s goooo 
,” Holloway wrote.
A fan favorite with multiple title defenses, Holloway has used his ground game more for takedown defense and positioning than submissions. Coming off of two controversial loses to new champ Alexander Volkanovsky and more recently a win against Calvin Kattar, here’s hoping we see more crazy BJJ in his future fights.
