Aldo seemed to have the fight in his favor during the first round, stinging Holloway and then pounding away at him with a flurry of punches.
By the second, though, Holloway seems to have figured out Jose’s timing and distance. He hit Aldo with some solid combos and felt so confident in his abilities that he began taunting Jose at the end of the round.

Early in the third round, Holloway landed a combo that knocked Jose down. Aldo put in one hell of a fight, surviving a barrage of punches from mount and RNC attempts. However, by the final time Max got to the back, it was all over for Jose. Holloway punched away at him, and though Jose was still consciously defending himself, he couldn’t shake Max off of him. This left referee Big John McCarthy with no choice but to the end the fight, making Max “Blessed” Holloway the new undisputed UFC Featherweight Champion!
