The main event of tonight’s UFC Mexico City was brought to a swift and painful end due to an eye poke from Yair Rodriguez, and fans were not happy about it.
The final bout of the evening, between Rodriguez and Jeremy Stephens, started off with Rodriguez on the attack. However, the action was short-lived, as Rodriguez’s finger found its way to Stephens’ eye. The fight was paused as the doctor tried to check Stephens’ eye, and after a few minutes of waiting, the fight was ultimately ruled a no-contest.
The ruling prompted chaos from the audience, and spectators began throwing water bottles, cups, and food into the Octagon as athletes and staff ducked and shielded themselves. Many of the projectiles were directed specifically at Stephens and his team.
