BJJ world champion Mackenzie Dern reached her third MMA win last night when she fought Katherine Roy at Legacy Fighting Alliance 6, in San Antonio, Texas. She dominated all three rounds, as reflected in the unanimous decision by the judges.
Dern sought the takedown from the start. When she succeeded, she mounted and tried for a triangle, but the position slipped. Dern also displayed better striking than previously, and was able to connect a few times against her striking specialist enemy. Dern remains undefeated in her incipient MMA career.
“I’m happy I was able to win the three rounds standing up, basically,” Dern said in the cage. “I tried tons of times to get to the ground and I couldn’t.”
