It’s not set in stone yet, but we may get to see Mackenzie Dern back in action in under a month.
MMA Fighting reports that a strawweight fight between Mackenzie Dern and Hannah Cifers is tentatively scheduled for a May 23 UFC event that hasn’t yet been formally announced.
Dern was originally scheduled to fight on April 25 against Ariane Carnelossi, but after the coronavirus outbreak prevented Carnelossi from being able to attend the bout, Cifers was chosen as the replacement. The event was ultimately canceled due to the pandemic.
Dern’s first and only loss in her eight-fight professional career came at the hands of Amanda Ribas in a unanimous decision following their their October fight. Cifers, 10-4, last fought in January, with two of her last three bouts resulting in her victory.
The TBA UFC event is so far sparse on details, and we don’t yet know if it will be held in Jacksonville, Florida, like the events that have been announced for May 9, 13, and 16.
