Mackenzie Dern is a highly decorated BJJ fighter with several gold medals in global competitions. Now that the 23-year old has made the leap to the pro ranks, people are excited about her future prospects. She already won her first two matches. However, her seemingly unstoppable rise juts hit a snag.
Dern just missed weight for her third pro fight. This surprising development puts the celebrated strawweight in a corner as she will have to forfeit her purse. Her opponent, Katherine Roy, has agreed to push on with the fight at a catchweight of 120lbs. She will have to win in impressive fashion to put this all behind her and continue her march to the UFC.
LFA prez Ed Soares confirms Dern couldn't make 115 this AM, so they agreed to a catchweight. She then needed extra hr to make the new weight
