Earlier this month, the IBJJF announced that Gordon Ryan and Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida would be taking part in an eight-man tournament that would see the winner going home with $40,000. Now, two more jiu-jitsu legends have been added to the roster for the IBJJF Pro League GP No-Gi Heavyweight tournament set to take place later this year.
Lucas Barbosa and Leandro Lo have been announced as the next two athletes to be in the running for the prize. Barbosa has an extensive list of wins he’s accrued through IBJJF tournaments, having won gold at No-Gi Worlds three years in a row.
Lo has also developed a reputation as an IBJJF superstar, having won Worlds and Pans six times each (plus a few gold medals in the open weight division for both events) in addition to numerous other big wins.
Four spots remain, and the IBJJF has said that more competitors will be announced soon. The event will take place on August 24 this year at the Evexia Fit Fest in Las Vegas.
