We already mentioned that Lachlan Giles and black belt wife Livia are power coupling it to ADCC following this weekend’s ADCC Asia and Oceania Trials.
You can now add a few more winners to the list of monsters edging closer to our biggest submission hunt of the year:
Women: Rikako “Lady Sasa” Yuasa
-66kg: Kenta Iwamoto
-77kg: Lachlan Giles
-88kg: Keller Locke-Sodhi
-99kg: Jacob Malkoun
+99: Denis Roberts
You definitely recognize Yuasa, the multiple IBJJF Worlds Champ, EBI standout, and ninja featured in videos like this one. Iwamoto, a young purple belt out of Japan, is relatively new on the circuit after appearing at the Grand Slam Tokyo last year. Locke-Sodhi is a five-time PanPac champion and member of the Australian Judo Team. Malkoun, a pro MMA fighter in his “free” time, trains and teaches out of Gracie Smeaton Orange. Roberts, of Team Caio Terra, has previously medalled at IBJJF Worlds and No-Gi Worlds.
The group join names like Gordon Ryan, Nicky Ryan, Paulo Miyao, Vagner Rocha, Garry Tonon, Lucas Lepri, Alec Baulding, Kit Dale, Romulo Barral, Marcus Buchecha, Nick Rodrigeuz, Bia Mesquita, and Ffion Davies, among many more, in a chase for gold and a year’s worth of exceptionally valuable bragging rights.
