The Abu Dhabi World Professional Championship 2017 just added two major BJJ competitors to its super fights.
Former UFC fighter and color commentator Kenny Florian will be added to the list. Florian is a third-degree black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu who has numerous NAGA championships under his belt.
Florian will be taking on Vitor “Shaolin” Riberio. Also no stranger to the cage, Shaolin is a fifth-degree black belt who has been winning medals in BJJ since the mid-nineties.
Kenny Florian posted about his upcoming match on Instagram, saying he was “honored” to be taking on his “legendary” opponent.
Yet Shaolin and Florian will not be the only legends on the card. Wellington “Megaton” Dias will be taking on Helio “Soneca” Moreira.
Megaton is a multiple-time Pan American gold medalist and World Championship medalist. He is a fifth-degree black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, third-degree black belt in judo, and the father of one of the biggest names in women’s BJJ, Mackenzie Dern.
Helio Moreira is a World, NAGA, and Brazilian Champion, as well as an undefeated mixed martial artist. He received his black belt under Carlos Gracie Jr.
The Abu Dhabi Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2017 will be held from April 18 – 22 at the IPIC Arena in Abu Dhabi.
