Fight 2 Win is back next weekend, and they’re bringing Keenan Cornelius with them.
Following his victory at his promotional debut at F2W 148, Cornelius is back yet again, this time in the main event against Gabriel Almeida.
As one of the most celebrated grapplers of his generation, Cornelius’ F2W debut a couple of weeks ago prompted excitement in the community, and he was able to take home a win. Prior to the worldwide spread of COVID-19, Cornelius also won gold in his division at Euros earlier this year.
Almeida has also taken the stage at a recent F2W event, facing off against Xande Ribeiro at F2W 145 back in June. Before this, he defeated none other than Roberto Jimenez at F2W 140, following an impressive performance that saw him take the runner-up spot at No-Gi Worlds last year.
The co-main event of the evening will be a match between Luiza Monteiro and Jena Bishop for the black belt gi featherweight title. Monteiro recently graced the stage when she battled against Elisabeth Clay at F2W 147, and now, the five-time world champion (with gi and no-gi titles combined) will be testing herself against the formidable Bishop. Bishop herself is an ADCC qualifier with a no-gi world title to her own name, and her match with Monteiro is sure to get people buzzing.
Finally, another exciting title fight will take place between Edwin “Junny” Ocasio and Lucas Pinheiro. Their match will be for the no-gi bantamweight title, and their creative styles will go far in combining technical prowess with the entertainment factor that F2W is known for. Both competitors are F2W veterans, with Ocasio winning his match at F2W 146 and Pinheiro collecting a notable win against Joao Miyao at F2W 128, and theirs will be a can’t-miss bout.
As always, the lead-up to these big-name matches will feature a variety of matches from competitors across a wide range of ages and experience levels.
Fight 2 Win 149 will take place on Friday, August 14 in Dallas, TX and can be streamed live on FloGrappling.
