Legion BJJ is here and is looking to stack its roster. The new BJJ school, passion project of champ and lapel guard innovator Keenan Cornelius, is currently seeking five “future or current world champions” in jiu-jitsu for a mentorship and competition deal run by Cornelius. The champs will be chosen via tryouts, with dates TBA.
Cornelius specified via Instagram that the program will offer chosen champions a place to live, free training at Legion, free tournament registration, “as well as mentorship in how to market yourself and monetize your Jiujitsu knowledge effectively.” And given Keenan’s success as a commentator, and developer of digital products, and podcaster, and seminar teacher, and…well, anyway, that marketing mentorship could prove to be priceless.
The call to try out, then house, school, mentor, and market champions, marks another game changing move by Cornelius as he embarks on building the Legion name in these months following his split from home gym Atos. Despite his pile of gold medals and accolades, the fighter has said before that his goal isn’t to be remembered as the greatest practitioner, but the greatest teacher, of jiu-jitsu.
