Keenan Cornelius Returns from Year Lay-Off to Face Haisam Rida at Who’s Number One

One of the most accomplished and active competitors of the past decade, Keenan Cornelius, is returning from a near year-long lay-off to face Haisam Rida in a no-gi match at the next Who’s Number One (WNO) event. The match and event is scheduled for June 18 and was announced by FloGrappling.

Keenan Cornelius competed at a torrid pace between 2013 when he earned his black belt and 2020, winning a no-gi world championship, Pans gi and no-gi championships, and European and Asian Open championships. However, he hasn’t competed since July 2020, when he defeated Matheus Luna by decision at Fight to Win 148. Prior to that, Cornelius had his one and only WNO appearance, a loss to Roberto Jimenez.

Cornelius will be taking Rida Haisam, who is fresh off a WNO victory over one of Cornelius’ top students, Sloan Clymer. A black belt under Yuki Ishikawa of Carpe Diem Academy, Haisam burst onto the scene in 2018 and 2019 with impressive performances at Quintet Team Grappling.

How to watch: WNO takes place on June 18 and will air live on FloGrappling (subscription required).
